White Rice and Strawberries

What you describe sounds very much like "rit au lait", which is a very popular dessert here in Belgium - it was my mom's favourite :-) It's also the same kind of preparation we use for rice pie - yes, a pie with rice in it! Anyway, here's how you can do that: You will need: - 100gr rice: don't use rice that won't stick, you can use something like risotto rice because that's going to make the mix creamy - 1l full-fat milk - 5 table spoons of sugar - 10g vanilla sugar - if you can't find that in the US, you can make it yourself by keeping 500g of sugar in a closed bowl with an open vanilla bean burried in it - the vanilla taste will transfer to the sugar In a pan, mix the milk, sugar and vanilla sugar. Heat until it boils. Ad the rice and lower the heat so the rice can cook slowly. Wait until the rice has absorbed the milk, which should take 30 to 40 minutes, and blend often. You can serve it slightly warm or cold, and you can add fruits to it like apricots or strawberries. Chocolate sauce will work well too :-)

Marie from The Sweet Life shares a recipe that sounds really interesting!

Someone just left a message for Marlene on my voicemail. Note to Marlene: class was cancelled because no one else showed up. You’re welcome.

How you know I’m from the Midwest after all: I can’t stop making casseroles involving Campbell’s soup. I also can’t stop eating them, either
